There are many ways to enjoy the art of weaving, and this class focuses on one of our favorites. Join instructor Holly Hoffman in learning the basics of spiral weaving while making a trivet. Your completed project can be put to work in your kitchen or hang on the wall as decor.
She will show you how to create a gorgeous trivet using a basic embroidery hoop, cotton cord and linen twine. This three-hour class will provide complete instruction and you can expect to get a good start on your trivet and all the knowledge necessary to complete the project at home.
The kit (purchased separately) includes enough supplies to make two trivets total, and enough extra rope to make additional projects as you see fit. Use the concepts learned to make them in varying sizes and hang them in a collection on the wall or even weave them small enough to use as coasters.
Skills you will learn:
- Marking your embroidery hoop/loom
- Setting up your warp
- Learning the circular weaving technique
- Mastering soumak knots
- How to finish the piece
