What You Will Learn

Skills you will learn:
-Tips for planning your color sequence
-Creating a granny-style triangle
-Adding an exterior border
-Weaving in ends from color changes
-Connecting the pennants to form a banner

Supplies Included

The class includes three hours of instruction and a printed pattern. Attendees need to be prepared and bring the following:

-US H / 5.0mm crochet hook
-3 balls / 1080-1350+ yards of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton (1 each of 3 colors)
-While not required, this class will be using the techniques found in The Granny Square Crochet Bible and we will have copies available if you choose to take one home for further skill exploration.

Join instructor Nichole Heady to explore the history and beauty behind Swedish Straw Ornaments. This artistry has been celebrated for centuries and now's your chance to learn the basics and make your very own collection for your holiday home.

Once this 3-hour class is completed, you will have all the necessary skills and be well on your way to completing your own Swedish Straw Ornament to be used as a tree ornament or festive holiday decor.

Skills you will learn:

  • Preparing the flax straw and soaking
  • Using pins and cork base for straw positioning
  • Weaving and tying with twine, hiding ends.
  • Following a pattern, sources for additional patterns
  • Finishing and adding loop

Materials:

The class includes three hours of instruction. Attendees need to purchase the companion Swedish Straw Ornament Kit which can be purchased in-store before or the day of class using a 15% off Class Discount.
