Join instructor Nichole Heady for a special class celebrating the heirloom art of Crochet Lace Snowflakes. You may have fond memories of these starched beauties hanging from the Christmas tree. In this class you will learn how to make your very own, experiencing the delicacy and satisfaction of creating fine lacework.
Once this 3-hour class is completed, you will have all the necessary skills and be well on your way to completing your own lace snowflake with the skills to make more at home. This class is designed for Advanced Beginner/Intermediate.
Skills you will learn:
- Starting with a Double Magic Ring
- Reading the snowflake pattern and chart
- dc (double crochet)
- dtr (double treble crochet)
- hdc (half double crochet)
- sc (single crochet)
- ss (slip stitch)
- tr (treble crochet)
- YO (yarn over)
- Review of pinning and starching technique
- Sources for additional heirloom lace snowflake patterns
Materials:
The class includes three hours of instruction and a printed pattern. Attendees need to be prepared and bring the following:
- US 8 / 1.5mm crochet hook
- 1 ball of
Aunt Lydia Crochet Thread (Size 10)
- Aleene's Fabric Stiffener & Draping Liquid for starching at home
