Class: Beginner Crochet Shawl/Scarf

Sunday, January 18 (12pm-3pm). Reservation required.

Learn the basics of crochet with instructor Sharon Crawford. Master the skills needed to get started on a beautiful yet simple granny-style wrap which can be styled like a cozy shawl or draped scarf. Sharon will guide you step-by-step with her approachable, easy to follow teaching style. Once this three-hour class is completed, you will have solid foundational crochet skills and be well on your way to completing your very first handmade accessory.

Skills you will learn:

• Holding a crochet hook
• Yarn tension
• Creating a chain
• Making a slip stitch
• Double crochet stitch
• How to read a crochet pattern

Materials:

The class includes three hours of instruction and a printed pattern. Attendees need to be prepared and bring the following:

• US I / 5.5mm crochet hook
• 385+ yards of heavy-worsted/aran weight yarn, preferably a self-striping merino like Amitola Grande
