A pale purple shade that can be used as a mid or dark tone to add depth and shade to your needlework. Mauve dye was accidentally discovered by 18-year-old scientist William Perkin whilst he was trying to find treatments for malaria. He named the color using the French name for Mallow because its flowers are a similar color.
