Olde School has proudly partnered with the new non-profit local chapter of Knitted Knockers of Southern Maine. This is an organization that orchestrates the distribution of hand-knit soft prosthetic breasts for those dealing with mastectomy. We will be working long-term in supplying the Maine Health Breast Cancer Center Clinic in Biddeford and special orders for local pink fighter neighbors.
To kick off this new venture local chapter leader, Tara Benson, is offering this class time to take you step-by-step through the process of knitting a prosthetic breast. Appropriate for Advanced Beginners and Up with working knowledge of knitting in the round with double-pointed needles, knit/purl stitches and k2tog.
Skills you will learn:
- Reviewing official Knitted Knockers pattern
- Tips for working in small circumference
- Knit-front-back increase stitch technique
- Creating drawstring closure
- Stuffing guidance
