Class: Beginner Quilting

Saturday, April 11th (11am-3pm). Reservation required.

Instructor Kim Barbour has many years of quilting experience, and now is your chance to learn all of the basics to get started with this historic craft. From learning to cut the fabric to assembling the final blocks, she will take you step-by-step through the process so you have a good foundation to move into more projects. 

In this 4-hour class you will learn all of the skills to complete a small quilt top and have most (if not all of it) completed. This sweet project can be used as a small wall quilt, table topper or table runner depending on how you arrange the blocks.

Note that this class is for the quilt top only. Further finishing would be required (adding backing, quilting and binding). Note that there will be a follow-up Quilt Binding & Finishing Class coming in May, should you want further instruction.

Skills you will learn:

• Rotary cutting
• Piecing quilt blocks
• Assembling blocks into rows
• Final quilt top assembly

Materials:

The class includes four hours of instruction and a helpful printed handout. Attendees need to be prepared and bring the following supplies:

• Sewing machine (that you already know how to use)
• 50-weight quilting thread in a neutral color
• 1 charm pack (package of pre-cut 5" squares)
• 1/2 yard coordinating fabric
• Rotary cutter + cutting mat
• Quilting ruler
• Scissors
• Straight pins

These supplies can be purchased in-store before class using a 15% off Class Discount. Since the class begins promptly at store opening time, we recommend coming in for any shopping at least the day prior.
